2012 Neighborhood Small Grant Recipients Announced

The Office of Neighborhood Involvement (ONI) has allocated $46,058 in grant funds to SE Uplift for management of the 2012 Neighborhood Small Grant Program.  This grant program provides neighborhood and community-based organizations better opportunities to build community, attract new and diverse members and sustain current membership. Forty-seven eligible grant proposals were received by the November 1 deadline requesting a total of $225,320.

Each year a grant selection committee convenes to review applications and makes recommendations to the SE Uplift Board for approval.  This year the committee was comprised of two members from the SE Uplift Board of Directors, one member from a community-based nonprofit, one member from a business association board and one member from the SE staff.

After evaluation and deliberation, the grant selection committee unanimously recommended the funding of sixteen outstanding projects (read about these projects in details here).

These projects are excellent examples of how citizens are working together to improve the quality of our neighborhoods by building community, increasing volunteer capacity and forging new organizational partnerships through sustainable projects.
