Paul and Tammy shared the amended budget. They highlighted where cuts were made and income not accounted for. There was $15,503 in revenue found. Cece drafted a letter to fiscal sponsorship recipients informing them that we will be adhering to policy regarding fees. We can also collect fees for block parties and other items. Sean moved, Pete seconded MOVED/APPROVED unanimously to approve the amended budget
ONI Budget
Cece shared that moneys that we will get from ONI will be in the form of a grant this year. We will be getting the same amount as last year Plus inflation. Plus there will be more money for the small grants program and for the DCL. She also shared that here will be no 20% match this year.
Portland Plan
Paul gave us an update on the process; He talked about the public involvement plan, what works and what doesn’t. It is a continuous struggle to ensure the neighborhoods have an avenue to share their opinions.
Committee Reports-
Communications
Marianne Colgrove shared that final draft of the Brand Vision was complete and passed her copy around for the board to see. The website is wrapping up because the contract with the web design people is up. The layout for the new site is done. We will have more add ons next year if the budget allows. The committee is working on a table piece for SEUL. This will be available for neighborhood and community events and will help with outreach.
Discussion: SEUL Services to Neighborhoods
Cece talked briefly about what SEUL does for neighborhoods. She then asked for feedback to help her better address our neighborhoods needs. Some ideas from the board were:
- Better support and outreach regarding transportation to meetings, translation and child care
- Updated demographic information on a regular basis
- For SEUL to continuously advocate for stable funding (from the city) for neighborhoods
- Help to develop work plans for neighborhoods (quarterly?)
- Share with neighborhoods how SEUL does their planning
- Tool kits and trainings available online and digitally
- Conflict resolution, communication, and meeting facilitation tools available online
- Annual open discussion on special topics for neighborhoods
- Promote block parties as capacity building events and offer tools for neighborhoods
- Always have neighborhood announcements on the agenda and move them up on the agenda 1
- Land Use services from technical assistance to policy advocacy
- Have ONI land use training annually
- Clarify the role of the SEUL board and board committees Cece will take these ideas to Directors and Chairs meeting to get feedback.
