Southeast Uplift's Strategic Plan

Southeast Uplift is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization funded with government contracts supplemented with project grants, fees for services, and individual and business contributions. Primary funding is from the City of Portland's Office of Neighborhood Involvement.

About Southeast Uplift's Strategic Planning Process

Groundwork for Southeast Uplift's most recent strategic plan began with surveys conducted by the staff in the fall of 2005 to gain a better understanding of the issues and needs of the Portland neighborhoods served by the Coalition.

In November of 2005, Southeast Uplift's staff and Board came together for two retreats to identity important trends in Southeast Uplift's operating environment, create a vision for the future, identify potential barriers to the vision, and determine major strategic directions.

Following the retreat sessions, Southeast Uplift's staff and Executive Committee fleshed out key milestones for the next few years that will mark the Coalition's progress.

The Board of Directors reviewed Southeast Uplift's draft Strategic Plan in January 2006. A draft version was approved on February 06, 2006. With the provision that Board Committees would develop work plans that identified tasks to fulfill the goals prior to the end of the fiscal year in July 2006.

The Strategic Plan provides a framework to guide operations and governance that will be reviewed and adjusted on an ongoing basis by the Board and staff.
