Neighborhood Climate Action Handbook

In 2008, SE Uplift partnered with C-Change Consultants, a group of Masters of Urban and Regional Planning students from Portland State University, to create a Neighborhood Climate Action Handbook.  The handbook is a guide for community members interested in organizing a project aimed at lowering the carbon footprint of their neighborhood.  It gives examples of projects that groups have already implemented in southeast Portland, steps that can be taken to organize other projects, and existing resources that may help.

To create the handbook, neighborhood sustainability activists participated in focus groups to brainstorm actions that can be taken, share what has been effective in their organizing, and what barriers there are to starting sustainability projects at the neighborhood level.  There was also an Open House event to collect additional input from the broader community.

The completed handbook is available for free.  Click here to download the PDF.  To borrow a hard copy, or for more information, contact Tim at 503.232.0010 x313, or email tim@southeastuplift.org.
