SE Portland Tool Library (SEPTL) NEEDS MORE SPACE
And it needs your help!
The Southeast Portland Tool Library (SEPTL) is now over two and a half years old and has over 2000 members in inner SE Portland. The SEPTL it seems has now outgrown its space that 2 ½ years ago seemed sufficient. Growth is good as far as a tool library is concerned, but it now leaves us very cramped and needing a new space.
St. David of Wales Church has provided a wonderful place for SEPTL to begin its work, but the SEPTL Board of Directors feels the time has come to begin a search for a larger space that will better suit the library’s needs. An optimal space for SEPTL would possess these attributes:
Approximately 1,000 sq. feet
Provide good access to the outside so members can easily haul tools in and out
A heated space with some natural lighting (ie windows) [this would make it a
friendlier environment for volunteer recruitment purposes]
Would allow the SEPTL to have at a minimum a two year lease on the space
Centrally located in inner southeast Portland
The SEPTL can afford a monthly rent stipend, to be negotiated
Note that all of our tools are electric. We do not carry any gas powered tools in
our inventory for liability reasons.
These parameters may seem like a tall order, but SEPTL’s Board of Directors is counting on our members, as well as the community at large, to recognize all the benefits a neighborhood tool library provides. If you have or know of a space that could possibly fulfill the tool library’s needs, please contact Steve Couche at email@example.com as soon as possible.
Ideally, SEPTL’s Board would like to be settled into a new space this winter. Please
contact us if you know of anything that can help make this move happen.
