Brentwood Darlington Board Member Profiles
Chris Hart and Suvi Wesa
Chris is currently the Chairman of the Brentwood Darlington Neighborhood Association and the Vice Chairman of the Southeast Uplift Neighborhood Coalition. When not volunteering his time to these amazing boards, he is working at Portland State University and butchering the art of Yoga with his pitiful poses.
Suvi Wesa is the Secretary of the Brentwood Darlington Neighborhood Association as well as being an active board member on both Rose Community Development Corporation and the Foster Green EcoDistrict. She often makes fun of Chris's yoga poses when she isn't working on her Master's Degree in Real Estate Development & Finance.
These two lived and met in Hawaii before moving to Oregon to finish up school. They love Oregon, but often miss the strong sense of community they felt living in the small town of Kailua on the island of Oahu. Chris and Suvi involve themselves in as many community events as their time allows to attempt to build a similarly strong community in Southeast Portland.
Dick Hazeltine
Mr. Hazeltine is considered by many as a "founder" of the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood. For several decades, he has been at the forefront of many neighborhood improvement initiatives, including the building of the community center, establishing the neighborhood watch program, and organizing neighborhood clean-ups. His tireless efforts resulted in the development of a property into a neighborhood park now respectfully named Hazelitne Park.
Dick is currently the Chair of Brentwood Darlington Neighborhood Association's Crime Prevention Committee.
Paul Rinehart
Paul moved
into Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood in June, 2003. He enjoys living between a park and a cemetery--it's usually quiet. After he settled in, Paul noticed that there weren't a lot of trees in his neighborhood, not compared to other parts of the city that he had lived in. As a way to get some free trees for his yard, Paul joined Friends of Trees and became our BDNA's volunteer coordinator. Seven years and about 150 neighborhood trees later, he is still enjoying watching the trees grow, and participating in the actions at the neighborhood association meetings.
Robin Wikoff (Fenske)
Robin is an avid urban farmer and PhD student, and is addicted to kale. She's been living in Brentwood-Darlington since 2009, and is already (proudly) known as "that lady with the garden in the front yard," aka the Wikoff Homestead. She enjoys making cheese, baking crackers, brewing beer, and coming up with new delicious ways to cook giant amounts of vegetables. She also enjoys taking the bus, supporting her local community, and spending time more than money.
