2012 Graffiti Abatement Community Grants Available!
The Office of Neighborhood Involvement and SE Uplift are excited to offer the second year of the City of Portland’s Graffiti Abatement Community Grants Program. We invite neighborhood associations, businesses and community-based organizations in Portland to apply. This year, a total of $7,400 is available for projects in the Southeast Uplift coalition area. Grant proposals may range from $500 to $2,500.
Support Portland Community Gardens
Raise funds for expanding the network of community gardens in Portland by shopping at the Laurelhurst Whole Foods Market, 2825 E. Burnside on Thursday January 12, and Whole Foods will donate 5% of its net sales to the Friends of Portland Community Gardens organization (http://portlandcommunitygardens.org/) for building new community gardens.
The Arleta Library
The old Arleta Library at SE 64th and Holgate (now called the Wikman Building) is currently considered surplus property by Multnomah County. The following comments were sent regarding the future of the property. The photos are from the collection of the Multnomah County Library.

Feast for Southeast 11/24/11
Feast for Southeast is a grassroots Thanksgiving event, for the community BY the community. It is planned by a group of neighbors from all over Southeast Portland and focused on the neighborhoods encompassing Mt. Scott/Arleta, Woodstock, Brentwood/Darlington and Foster/Powell. The group is led by Roberto Selva and strongly supported by Lifehouse Church, various SE Portand Neighborhood Associations, local nonprofits and businesses, and other sponsors as well as individual donors and volunteers.

From now until November 18th, RNW’S Neighborhood Mediation Program is recruiting applicants that reflect Portland’s diversity for a limited number of spots in our annual volunteer mediation training. The comprehensive, 38 hour training and year-long mentor program is FREE in exchange for your year-long, hands-on commitment to serve the diverse communities of Portland.
