Southeast Uplift supports Neighborhood Associations in developing communications strategies and methods to effectively reach and engage more members of their neighborhood. Effective communication is the lifeblood of a successful organization. It reinforces the organization's vision, connects neighbors to the because, fosters process improvement and facilitates change. No matter how you look at it, communication is an important part of the landscape and cannot be taken for granted. There are now more than ever, more ways to reach your audience. Here at Southeast Uplift we can assist with developing e-newsletters, websites, print newsletters and more.

E-newsletters:

E-newsletters are a simple way to proactively reach your neighbors. They allow you to build relationships by sharing a little about your neighborhood monthly (or more often). They allow you to establish your reputation and keep you at the top of the mind. Best of all, they are relatively inexpensive and pretty easy to manage.

Websites:

Another effective way to reach your neighbors is through a website. Seventy-five percent of the American population has access to the internet*. Websites allow organizations an opportunity to passively reach their audience. Websites can be "brochure-like", meaning fairly static, with a minimum of information or they can be quite dynamic with new information changing all the time. Both are acceptable. Websites also allow neighbors access to your organization without attending meetings.

Print Newsletters:

It is easy to underestimate the value of a newsletter. But a newsletter allows you to connect with all your neighbors, not just those who have opted to sign-up for e-newsletters or those that know your website address. Print newsletters allow you to reach everyone in your neighborhood and on an ongoing basis and create a greater sense of community. They are an excellent companion to on-line methods. Print newsletters require time and effort and can be more expensive than other methods.

Additional Communications:

Communication items such as posters advertising an upcoming meeting or event. A postcard to reach the entire neighborhood to invite them to visit your website or sign-up for your e-newsletter. A brochure that offers an overview of your neighborhood association that can be handed out at events. These items are all very effective ways to supplement your communication efforts.

Supporting Your Message Methods:

People love swag. Do not think of it as swag though, think of it as treasure! Items like t-shirts, bumper stickers, magnets, buttons, totes, hats, etc. can further support your efforts to create a sense of community. People who feel connected to their community are more likely to have a sense of investment.
